Walla Walla High School Blue Devil Battalion Celebrates 107th Change of Command and Annual Review

The historic Walla Walla High School Army JROTC Blue Devil Battalion marked another milestone in its century-long history on May 20, 2026, conducting its 107th Change of Command and Annual Review on Trident Field. The ceremony, deeply rooted in military tradition, celebrated the achievements of the academic year and signaled a new chapter of leadership for the battalion.

Serving as this year’s distinguished reviewing officer was COL Rick Childers, an active-duty Army officer. Alongside outgoing Cadet Battalion Commander c/LTC Sofie Edwards, COL Childers formally inspected the formation of cadets before presiding over the traditional Pass in Review, where companies marched across Trident Field in precise alignment.

The pinnacle of the afternoon's event was the formal Change of Command between c/LTC Edwards and the newly promoted Cadet Battalion Commander, c/LTC Wyatt Postlewait.

In accordance with time-honored Army tradition, the battalion colors were passed from the outgoing commander to the incoming commander. This symbolic passing of the organizational flag signifies to the entire unit the definitive transfer of authority, responsibility, and leadership from one commander to the next.

With the 107th annual review concluded, the Blue Devil Battalion looks forward to its next year of leadership, academic excellence, and community service under the command of c/LTC Postlewait.
