Walla Walla Elks Lodge Supports WaHi Agriculture Program with $3,500 Grant!
October 6, 2026
Jim Western of the Walla Walla Elks Lodge recently visited Walla Walla High School to present a $3,500 Gratitude Grant to Career and Technical Education and SEATech Director Jerry Maher in support of the school’s agriculture education program.
The generous donation will help the program recover from a devastating loss suffered earlier this year. On May 6, 15 lambs were killed and four others were seriously injured in a dog attack on the school’s flock.
The Elks Lodge’s contribution will help strengthen security at the school farm. To date, contributions from community members to a Sheep Donation fund has supported the purchase of nine replacement lambs, five ewes, a breeding ram, and costs associated with ownership of a livestock guardian dog. It has also helped cover veterinary expenses and animal-care supplies.
The support from the Walla Walla Elks Lodge will help ensure students can continue gaining valuable hands-on experience through the agriculture program while the school works to rebuild and protect its flock. Thank you to Jim Western and all the members of the Walla Walla Elks Lodge for this tremendous support of our students and agriculture education program!
