Walla Walla Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Ben Gauyan recently stepped out of his office and onto the training floor at SEATech Skills Center to take part in the Construction Technology Fall Protection program, the latest feature in his Out and About with Dr. G video series.
During the visit, instructor Eric Matson and students in the construction program walked Dr. Gauyan through the critical safety procedures required when working on rooftops and elevated surfaces. From proper harness use to securing anchor points, the hands-on demonstration highlighted how students are being trained to meet real-world industry safety standards.
The Out and About with Dr. G series is designed to give the community an inside look at the programs and people that make Walla Walla Public Schools strong. By learning alongside students and staff, Dr. Gauyan gains a firsthand understanding of the skills, safety practices, and career pathways being developed across the district.
SEATech’s Construction Technology program provides students with practical, industry-aligned training that prepares them for careers in the skilled trades, reinforcing the district’s commitment to hands-on learning and workforce readiness.
