SEATech Students Partner with Local Businesses to Produce Professional Commercial Campaigns

SEATech’s Careers in Media & Entertainment program proudly concluded its annual Spectrum Project for the 2025–26 school year, giving students the opportunity to collaborate with local businesses and industry professionals to create real-world commercial campaigns.

Now in its fourth year, the Spectrum Project challenges students to form their own advertising teams and develop a complete marketing package for a local client. This year’s participating businesses included Tint Salon, City Zoo, Hot Mama’s Espresso, and Happi-NES.

Each student team produced a full campaign consisting of a professionally edited television commercial, a short-form social media reel, and a printed promotional poster. Throughout the project, students worked with local media professionals who served as coaches, providing mentorship in areas such as storytelling, filming, editing, and marketing strategy.

“This project gives students authentic, hands-on experience that mirrors what they would encounter in the media industry,” said SEATech media instructor Andrew Sayers. “They’re not just learning skills—they’re applying them in a meaningful way with real clients and real expectations.”

The program culminated in a final presentation and judging event, where teams showcased their campaigns. This year’s winners were:

  • AM Session: Happi-NES

  • PM Session: City Zoo

Pending final approval from the participating businesses, the winning commercials will be submitted for broadcast on cable television. In addition, all completed student work will be provided to the partner businesses for use in their own marketing and social media efforts.

The Spectrum Project is made possible through the support of local businesses, industry professionals, and SEATech staff, all of whom play a vital role in connecting classroom learning to career pathways.

Student-created commercials will begin airing soon and will also be featured on the SEATech Careers in Media YouTube channel later this summer.

SEATech is already preparing for next year’s project and is seeking additional business partners and media professionals interested in supporting student learning. Community members who would like to get involved can submit their interest here:
