MCC Spring Health Science Leadership Event
On April 15, students in the Sports Medicine Program got the opportunity to visit Tri-Tech to participate in the MCC Spring Health Science Leadership Event.
Each year, the program implements new skill stations to encourage student growth and engagement. This year, students were able to rotate through groups where they learned about rehabilitation and recovery techniques, dry-needling, kinesiotaping, suturing, and casting. Each station was a common procedure or health service provided in the medical field and allowed students to apply the skills and knowledge learned in class to a real-life scenario.
While at each station, students were able to collaborate with peers from other area schools to problem solve and learn from various medical providers in the area.
The leadership event allowed students to engage with medical professionals such as medical assistants, physicians, physical therapists, and athletic trainers and obtain a different perspective on all facets of healthcare.
