Walla Walla High School JROTC Hosts 106th Annual Pass in Review and Celebrates Graduates

On May 21, 2025, in a display of tradition, discipline, and leadership, the Walla Walla High School Army JROTC program held its 106th Annual Pass in Review ceremony on the newly renovated Trident Field.

The Pass in Review is a longstanding military tradition that allows the battalion to be formally inspected while in formation. This year’s reviewing officer was LTC (R) Joel Loiacono, who was joined by outgoing battalion commander c/COL Hannah Goin. Together, they inspected the cadets and presided over the Change of Command ceremony—an event symbolizing the formal transfer of authority from one cadet commander to another.

This year, the battalion colors were passed from c/COL Hannah Goin to incoming commander c/LTC Sofie Edwards. The symbolic passing of the unit’s flags, known as the colors, marked the official transition of leadership. Rooted in 18th-century military custom, this tradition represents continuity, discipline, and the honor of leading fellow cadets.

The ceremony culminated in the pass in review, where each company marched past the reviewing stand in precise formations. As is customary, the reviewing officer evaluated each unit for appearance, alignment, and marching precision. This year’s top honor was awarded to Delta Company, led by c/1LT Evelyn Wolf and c/1SG Chase Green, who were recognized for their outstanding performance.

The event drew students, staff, families, and community members who gathered to honor the hard work and dedication of the JROTC cadets and leadership. The impressive display of military bearing and ceremony stood as a tribute to the program’s proud history and its commitment to excellence.
