Superintendent Dr. Ben Gauyan visits WaHi JROTC Air Rifle Range

During his visit on September 30, Dr. Gauyan observed our cadets in action, specifically the leaders who were coaching and training new cadets in shooting from the standing position. He was impressed with the training and leadership on display.

Dr. Gauyan also took the opportunity to personally participate, shooting both the Sporter and Precision Air Rifles in the standing position. He was coached by c/MAJ Claire Calvert, who gave him a critical piece of advice: to point the muzzle towards the target just like an electric guitar while rocking out on stage. The coaching proved effective, as Dr. Gauyan surprised everyone by hitting a target on his very first shot, though not the correct one.

c/MAJ Calvert was even overheard joking that if his current job doesn't work out, Dr. Gauyan has a future on the rifle team. This good-natured moment highlighted the positive and supportive environment fostered at the range.

Thank you, Dr. Gauyan, for visiting our cadets.  Your presence makes a difference to our faculty, staff, and students.
